EAZA European Carnivore Campaign 2008-2010
'Living Together'
Europe is our home and the preservation of its wildlife and wild places is primarily our responsibility. Carnivores are an integral part of that environment. If we create an environment in which carnivores can thrive it goes without saying that the environment, in this case our environment, is healthy. We all need to realize that conservation begins at home.
“Living Together” on the one hand means acting to manage the survival of threatened and endangered carnivores and on the other, learning to live with those which are increasing in number, encroaching on our territory and generating conflicts.
Europe is home to a number of carnivores both large and small. It is impossible for our campaign to focus on them all and so we have selected twelve of the more threatened species. These “Dirty Dozen” of the 2008/2010 campaign can be seen if you click to enlarge the image above.
This campaign, as well as raising awareness of the threats and problems facing carnivores on our continent, will also help raise much needed funds (€750,000) to support a variety of conservation programmes throughout Europe for a number of our native species.
