New for 2009 and 2010
New African Savanna exhibit and Philippines species for 2009
During 2009 a wonderful AFRICAN SAVANNA exhibit was opened with three acres of grassland including stunning Wildebeest, entertaining Ostriches, beautiful and elegant Zebra, Waterbuck and Nyala Antelope.
This is a major development for the zoo and a fantastic opportunity to introduce a wide range of new species to the zoo.
Public viewing is from a raised board-walk and provides some covered areas and information points.
Another new exhibit highlights some unusual Philippine species. The Visayan Warty Pig and Philippine Spotted Deer are all under threat and will become another important part of the breeding programmes at the Zoo.
A separate enclosure built for the Fishing Cats is situated next to the Philippine species with landscaping and tree planting to provide shade and enhance the new exhibit.
COMING SOON FOR 2010
A 'Madagascan Walkthrough Exhibit' featuring Crowned Lemurs, Vasa Parrots and Striped Mongoose. More news and photos soon.
