If you love animals and want to learn more about them or work with them one day, then start your journey as a member of the Zoo Cadets at Newquay Zoo!
If you are aged 12-16 years old and interested in the Zoo, animals and conservation then the Zoo Cadets is for you. Meeting on the first Saturday of every month between 11.00 am and 1.00 pm, the Zoo Cadets will have the opportunity to learn many fantastic zoo keeping skills and be involved in all sorts of interesting activities.
What will I do as a Zoo Cadet?
Cadets will be involved in loads of great activities around the Zoo - including feeding and cleaning out the animals, designing an enclosure, performing animal health checks and making enrichment toys. Be prepared to get involved and get mucky, as just like a keeper, you could be out in all weathers!
If you are dreaming of becoming a keeper one day then the Zoo Cadets is the perfect opportunity to gain some great skills. Each workshop has a different theme from carnivores to Birds!
Zoo cadet sessions cost £6.00 per child.
How do I book?
Booking opens a month before the session and closes the Thursday before. Parents must have filled out the appropriate registration form before they are able to book sessions.
What will you receive?
As well as taking part in a range of interesting activities, Zoo cadets will also receive:
- A club badge and Zoo pass to allow free entry to the Zoo for each meeting
- Brilliant memories, fantastic friends and a chance to get closer to the amazing animals at the Zoo
