Zoo Cadets

If you love animals and want to learn more about them or work with them one day, then start your journey as a member of the Zoo Cadets at Newquay Zoo!

Please note that Zoo Cadets is now full and cannot accept any more children during 2013.

If you are aged 12-16 years old and interested in the Zoo, animals and conservation then the Zoo Cadets is for you. Meeting on the first Saturday of every month between 11.00 am and 1.00 pm, the Zoo Cadets will have the opportunity to learn many fantastic zoo keeping skills and be involved in all sorts of interesting activities.

What will I do as a Zoo Cadet?

Cadets will be involved in loads of great activities around the Zoo - including feeding and cleaning out the animals, designing an enclosure, performing animal health checks and making enrichment toys. Be prepared to get involved and get mucky, as just like a keeper, you could be out in all weathers!

If you are dreaming of becoming a keeper one day then the Zoo Cadets is the perfect opportunity to gain some great skills.

How much?

Annual membership to the Zoo Cadets costs £22.50, payable from the start of the Cadet year in May.

What will you receive?

As well as taking part in a range of interesting activities, Zoo Cadets members will also receive:

  • A club badge and Zoo passport to allow free entry to the Zoo for each meeting
  • A subscription to Zoo News magazine
  • A portfolio of all your experiences
  • Access to career advice and information on relevant college courses from our friendly team

What You Say

I fed the lemurs at Newquay Zoo. What a fantastic experience and a great birthday treat for my wife. Newquay is a really lovely zoo and we cannot wait for our next visit..
Craig, Swindon
A lovely day out, with nice exhibits of many animals which all looked happy and well kept. The grounds were tidy as well. I would highly recommend to friends and family.
Samantha, Plymouth.
Really lovely zoo, especially the lion enclosure. Our children got so excited about feeding the meerkats and penguins, a great idea for small children.
