Charity celebrates as graduate development is recognised at prestigious awards Conservation and education charity Newquay Zoo is celebrating after being commended at the Cornwall College Excellence in Business Training Awards 2012.

The black tie awards ceremony was held on Thursday 26th January at the Atlantic Hotel in Newquay, and recognised the best in business development through training in the south west.

Newquay Zoo staff are excited that the Zoo’s Education Department has been acknowledged in the ‘Commitment to Graduate Development’ category.

Polly Vogel, Education Officer said; ‘‘I am thrilled that the Zoo has been recognised at the Excellence in Business Training Awards. We are proof that even a not-for-profit charity can make a real commitment to the development of its staff, and it is brilliant to be acknowledged by Cornwall College Business and other businesses around Cornwall for our efforts in staff training. We had a lovely evening and would like to congratulate all the winners.’’

Newquay Zoo has long made commitments to staff development. In recent years the Zoo has taken on graduates through the highly successful Unlocking Cornish Potential graduate scheme, offered work placements to graduates in order for them to boost their experience and CV’s, and have successfully maintained Investors in People status.
