Great family days out to be had at Newquay Zoo throughout 2012!

2011 has been a great year for local charity and attraction Newquay Zoo – with visitor numbers on the rise and a baby BOOM of beautiful endangered species.

So it is with great optimism that we enter 2012, with some great events lined up throughout the year.

Lorraine Reid, Events Manager said; ‘‘We are really excited by the range of family friendly events we have planned at Newquay Zoo throughout the year. Staff and visitors alike will love television hero Mr Bloom, who is visiting the Zoo in April and will provide great inspiration for little ones in gardening and the natural world. Wild Breakfast returns in August, and for any budding pirates out there Pirates Day is a chance to don your eye patch and parrots for a swashbuckling event at the Zoo. We will be holding the first International Owl and Pussycat Day, a great way to celebrate the fascinating and slightly barmy world of Edward Lear, and of course the Zoo BOO Party at Halloween will return, with fire eaters, stilt walkers, ghosts, witches and ghouls all visiting the Zoo for one night only.’’

These are just a few highlights of the Zoo’s fantastic 2012 events programme, for more information please visit the official website for more details. As well as these great events, there is plenty to occupy the whole family at Newquay Zoo, with fascinating keeper talks, animal encounters, facepainting, trails and craft making available. It is also hoped that 2012 will better 2011 for births, with our animals contributing even more to managed breeding programmes for endangered species. In-situ conservation projects will continue to be supported by the Zoo, so we are looking forward to hearing about the progress that our support has enabled abroad.

Stewart Muir, Zoo Director added; ‘‘ I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported us over 2011 and we look forward to seeing you again in 2012.’’
