Chinese New Year - 23rd January
Celebrate the start of the Chinese year of the Dragon with an oriental themed day at Newquay Zoo. Meet our dragon – the great anglehead dragon – and other species from South East Asia at amazing animal encounters throughout the day.
Take a leisurely stroll around the beautiful Oriental Garden exhibit, or go wild round the Dragon Maze. Grab a tasty bite at Café Lemur, who will be serving a Chinese themed menu throughout the day.
A brilliant way to welcome in the Chinese New Year.
Love Birds Valentines Weekend
11th – 14th February
A visit to the Zoo is a great first date – or a great location for any date!
Take a tour on the ‘Love Your Zoo’ trail and work out – who do you love?
One lucky couple will win an amazing animal adoption of their favourite and most cherished animal. See our beautiful pair of black cheeked lovebirds, who mate for life, and the other pairs of animals we have happily loved up here at the Zoo.
International Cat Day
1st March
Help Newquay Zoo celebrate International Cat Day with mask making, fun animal facts and a chance to make animal enrichment toys for our big cats.
St Piran’s Day
5th March
Celebrate what it means to be Cornish for our annual Cornish pasty flinging competition!
The competition starts at 1pm, and winners for the furthest flung pasty will receive a tasty box of pasties! (Please note – no pasties are harmed during this event!)
Mother's Day Flower Show

18th March
The amazing Mothers Day flower show returns for another year. A chance to see some amazing floral displays of all sizes, shapes and colours, plus the opportunity to show your mum how much you care. Mums – receive half price entry and children under 14 who bring a posy of flowers for the show will get in for free! Great prizes will be awarded for the most original flower displays.
Mr Bloom! - 2nd April
Bring your little ones to meet their favourite television star at this amazing one off event. Learn about composting, recycling and growing your own vegetables, and meet a television hero!
A great way to inspire interest in little ones about the natural world.
Easter Wonderland Weekend - 6th – 9th April
Join us for a weird and wonderland weekend of nonsense!
Follow Alice and the White Rabbit on the wonderland trail, play croquet on the lawn with the red queen and visit the Mad Hatter at his daily tea party. Duck racing, animal encounters and arts and crafts are just some of the activities going on at the Zoo, making this a great day out for the whole family.
International Owl and Pussycat Day
12th May
Celebrate Edward Lear’s 200th birthday at this birthday Bosh event. Write your own limericks, have a go at making your own beard and create your own utterly nonsensical botanical plants.

Fathers Day Teddy Bears Picnic
17th June
If you go down to the Zoo today your sure of a big surprise… because today’s the day the teddy bears have their picnic! Join Newquay Zoo for the annual Fathers Day teddy bears picnic. Dads – receive half price entry to the Zoo today as a thank you for being the most fun dad in the world. Children under 14 bring your teddy bear and get FREE entry. Plus you can help us beat our record for the amount of teddies at the Zoo.
Olympians Trail
22nd July – 4th September
Get into the Olympic spirit at Newquay Zoo! Follow the Olympians trail around the Zoo, learning who would win in the animal Olympic games and have a go at some fun sporting activities yourself! It’s feathers versus fur!
Safari Night - 28th July
Are you a born survivor?
Learn handy skills for safari survival at Safari Night! Take a tour around the Zoo and complete survival challenges on your way. Build your own shelter, help identify animal tracks and have a go at camouflage painting. Have a go at the assault course and take the bush tucker trial – if you dare. You and your team could win a prize for best survivors, or win a prize for being the team least likely to survive!
This is a ticket only event which runs from 6.30pm – 9pm. Adult £9.95 Child £6.95 Ticket includes drink and a tasty cookie, other refreshments will be available.
Wild Breakfast
5th, 12th and 19th August
Get closer to the animals at this early morning event. Take a walk on the wild side, see the animals as they, stretch, yawn, and start prowling away their day. Help feed your favourite species and make amazing enrichment toys for them. Wild Breakfast starts at 5am and ticket prices include entry to the Zoo (you can stay all day if you like!) and a hearty cooked breakfast from Café Lemur, featuring locally sourced produce. A great way for your family to start the day.

International Youth Day
12th August
Join Newquay Zoo and learn more about the recent births at the Zoo and meet our young animals at special keeper talks and animal encounters throughout the day.
Pirate Day
22nd September
Ahoy there! Help Newquay Zoo celebrate Pirate Day! Search for treasure, pan for gems and meet exotic animals from the Zoo pirates faraway expeditions across the seas. Swashbuckle your way around the Zoo, go wild in the Dragon Maze and walk the plank….. Children under 15 get in free when in pirate fancy dress.
Halloween Zoo BOO Party!
31st October
A spooktastic night out for the whole family! Join witches Hubble and Bubble for spooky tales, have a go at making your own wand and go trick or treating around the Zoo and receive a great goody bag.
Ticket only event, and they tend to fly away quickly. Adult £9.95 Child £6.95

Celebrate a real Victorian Christmas and Charles Dickens 200th anniversary at Newquay Zoo.
