Head over to the Oriental Garden to find our pair of Papuan hornbills.
The Papuan hornbill occurs throughout lowland forests in Melanesia and Wallacea. It is the only hornbill species native to New Guinea.
Their diet consists mainly of fruits, especially figs, and is supplemented with insects and other small animals.
The species is still widespread throughout its large range, and is assessed as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, however it can be subject to hunting pressures.
