They inhabit dense, lowland vegetation in tropical rainforests.
Their diet consists of mainly fruit but they will also eat insects and spiders.
These social birds normally live in groups of up to 30 individuals, apart from in the breeding season when they will break off into pairs and become highly territorial
An average of three blue and spotted eggs are in a clutch. Chicks are born with bright red skin.
It suffers due to its beautiful voice – unfortunately this has led to the species being captured for the illegal pet trade, forced to live a solitary life in cramped cages for human amusement.
