As we approach the end of our first closure week, we thought we’d update you…
As the summer starts to draw to a close, it’s time to for parents, students and staff to look towards the beginning of a new academic year. So here are a number of ways in which we can help you prepare for this.
Back to school essentials
We all know one of the most exciting parts of going back to school for kids is choosing their school supplies, which also can be one of the most stressful tasks for parents. However, we have everything you could possibly need to kick off the new school year in our Gift Shop – from school bags, lunchboxes, water bottles, stationary, notebooks and much more! We also have these zooper back to school sets which include a matching school bag, lunchbox and pencil case for a set price.
All of the profits made in our Gift Shop go directly towards our vital conservation work so whatever you buy, you can be sure that you’ve helped to make a difference. Not only this, but the majority of our products also eco-friendly, as we do our best to ensure that our suppliers meet our own ethical standards.
Wild at Home resources
If you’re looking to get your little ones heads back into the educational mind set then we have plenty of resources available on our website to keep them busy until the big day arrives.
Take a look at our Wild at Home resources here.
Since the Covid-19 pandemic our Education team have introduced virtual visits and lessons to reach as many pupils as possible. Using Microsoft Teams, these lessons will include:
- A 20-minute video call with your class from one of our animal enclosures in the morning, with a Q+A session, and
- A 50-minute lesson from one of our classrooms later on in the day
Topics offered included Plastic Oceans (KS2), African Savannahs (KS1 and lower KS2), Remarkable Rainforests (lower KS2) and World War Zoo (KS2 and KS3).
Find out more about our virtual lessons here.
We’re very excited to be able to welcome school groups back on site to visit our wonderful animals again. To keep students and visitors safe, we have slightly changed the way we handle educational bookings. However, they are still great educational tools which provide many learning opportunities for students of all ages and abilities. Find out more and book in your school visit here.
Going back to school will be a breeze!
