Competition terms and conditions

1. Promoter’s name and address

Newquay Zoo, Registered Charity No. 300923 at Newquay Zoo, Trenance Gardens, Newquay, Cornwall, TR7 2LZ.

Newquay Zoo, as part of South West Environmental Park Ltd, reserves the right to amend, extend or full terminate this competition at any time without incurring liability. We will not be responsible unless required by law, for any loss, changes, costs or expenses, which may arise in connection with this competition.


2. About the competition & general terms

This ‘win a standard lion adoption pack, plus 1 x adults admission to Newquay Zoo’ competition has been created to celebrate and raise awareness of World Lion Day, which takes place on Tuesday 10th August.

Please note that all guests, including complimentary tickets, must be pre-booked in advance, you can do this by emailing our reception team: [email protected] or through telephone on 01637 873342.

A winner will be randomly selected from the correct answers after the closing date stated and the prize of a standard lion adoption pack, plus 1 x adults admission to Newquay Zoo will then be available to the selected winner. Further contact to arrange the details of this prize will be carried out via Facebook private message. The competition is owned by South West Environmental Parks Ltd.

It is the responsibility of each individual entrant to ensure that they have read and obeyed the competition rules. Any entry found not to comply with the competition rules will be not be considered. By entering this competition, each individual entrant agrees to be bound by all of the terms and conditions outlined here, as well as South West Environmental Park’s general entry terms.


3. How to enter

To enter, entrants must simply answer the question which is stated on the Newquay Zoo Facebook World Lion Day competition post, answers must be submitted through the comments section. You may only submit one entry to be considered during the full duration of the competition. Multiple entries from one person will not be considered and will count as one entry. The competition ends at midnight on Sunday 15th August.

Employees and volunteers of Newquay Zoo, Paignton Zoo and Wild Planet Trust and their relatives may not enter this competition. This competition is for UK residents only and entrants must be over the age of 16. No third party or automated entries are permitted.


4. Selection and notification of the winner

A winner will be randomly selected from the correct answer entries which are commented on the Newquay Zoo Facebook World Lion Day competition post on Monday 16th August.

The decision of the Promoter is final and no discussion will be entered into. By entering you acknowledge and agree that you may be required to be used in publicity if you are selected as a winner. By entering you also agree that your name may also be published on the official Newquay Zoo Facebook and Twitter accounts, to announce that you are the winner.

No alternative prize will be offered and the prize is non-transferable and also cannot be exchanged for a cash alternative. The prize must be redeemed within 6 months of when the zoo can safely re-open its gates.


5. Data protection

By entering this competition each individual entrant agrees that, if they win, the Promoter may use their name to announce as the winner of this a competition. Your details are provided to the Promoter only and not to Facebook or other social media platforms. This prize draw is not sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with any other platforms in any way.

By entering the competition and opting in on the entry form, individual entrants agree that any personal information provided by you with your competition entry may be held and used by South West Environmental Parks for marketing communications purposes and for the purpose of administering the competition and the prize. These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English Courts.
