Stripey Horses and an Asian animal trail to welcome Chinese New Year! 2014 is the Year of the Horse in the Chinese calendar, so at Newquay Zoo they’ll be celebrating the ‘Year of the Stripey Horse’ (Zebras!), and a great new trail has been created to highlight some of their amazing Asian species.
The trail is a chance for visitors to find out more about the Zoos’ conservation work in Vietnam with Owstons’ Palm Civets, and discover some of the most popular animals at the Zoo, such as Red Pandas and Sulawesi Black Macaques. Education Manager Mark Norris said, ‘To welcome the Chinese New Year, we really wanted to showcase our Stripey Horses, and also our Top 12 Asian animals!
Asia is an incredibly diverse region, and this trail is a wonderful opportunity for visitors find out more about rare birds, mammals and amphibians, and our travels around Vietnam with Zoo Director Stewart Muir visiting our conservation projects’ The trail can be followed from Friday 31st January to April 30th with trail sheets available from the entrance (normal entry fees apply).
