Newquay Zoo has just hosted its first Wild Breakfast of 2012 –starting at 5am on Sunday 5th August - and locals and holiday makers alike joined staff at the Zoo for this amazing opportunity.

Lorraine Reid, Events Manager said; ‘‘We have had wonderful feedback and great comments from everyone who came for this special event. It is an early start – but it is well worth it, as the Zoo is a very magical place at that time in the morning. You can see the animals stretch, yawn and start to prowl away their day, and watch the sun rise over Lemur Island.’’

The guests were split into two groups for an early morning tour, where they learnt about some of the amazing species held at Cornwall’s biggest Zoo. After a quick coffee break, everyone had the opportunity to make enrichment toys for the animals – which involved getting a little messy with fresh fruit, mealworms, fish, sticky porridge and pine cones to make some wonderful tasty treats. A hot cooked breakfast and an encounter with Barry the blue tongued skink completed the amazing morning.

‘‘There are two more Wild Breakfast events in August’’ said Lorraine, ‘‘and there are still some tickets available. The next event s on Sunday 12th, and the third and final Wild Breakfast takes place on the 19th. Adult £14.95 Child £9.95. To book your ticket please call the Zoo on 01637 873342 – we would love to see you!’’
