On the 30th of October Newquay Tretherras students performed at Newquay Zoo, the local charity hosted the Halloween event, Fright Night.
Taking place between 6.00pm and 8.30pm audience members were taken on a 45 minute tour of the grounds, where they experienced four different theatre performances along the way.
Performed by a talented cast from the local academy, the four performances were a mixture of devised and scripted pieces, produced by Newquay Tretherras teacher Kym Langdon. Langdon comments ‘This was such a great opportunity for our students. Performing at the Zoo was such an exciting experience and we really hope everyone enjoyed watching the work that had been produced.’
With 215 visitors in attendance on the evening, ranging from ages 3 to 63 the atmosphere was frightful, yet fun with audience members being spooked by an extensive cast of witches, dames and possessed dolls whilst travelling around the grounds.
Organisers at the Zoo are really pleased with how this exclusive event has turned out. Event Coordinator Zoe Pascoe-Burd comments: ‘This event was a new challenge for the Zoo and I’m really pleased and excited at the response that we’ve had and look forward to developing this event for years to come- who knows what we’ll do next year!’
The Zoo would like to congratulate and thank all the students and staff from Newquay Tretherras Academy who took part in the project, as well as all those who attended. For pictures and information on similar future events please visit www.newquayzoo.org.uk
