Habitat

Tropical forests of Central and South America. They spend most of their time in the canopy, and rarely come down to the forest floor.

Wild Diet

Nimble fingers and a natural curiosity allow these monkeys to forage for a wide range of plants and insects for food.

Breeding

Females give birth during the rainy season, and care exclusively for their young.

Threats

Habitat destruction is decreasing the natural habitat of these monkeys, however they are common throughout their natural range. They are captured for the pet trade, and sometimes for medical research. Natural predators include snakes and large falcons.

How do I adopt a squirrel monkey

First choose the adoption package you wish to purchase and then make your animal selection.

Adoptions apply to the species rather than individual animals. This is because our animals may move to other zoos as part of breeding programmes.
