Taking place on 1st December 2020, Giving Tuesday is a day dedicated to charities, like Newquay Zoo. It is a day of generosity and giving back, to balance the heady mass consumerism of Black Friday and Cyber Monday and support good causes.

The Giving Tuesday global campaign has been running in the UK since 2014, and now officially runs in over 70 countries worldwide.

This year has been extremely difficult for us all, but giving to charities in need can make us feel good! In the run up to 1st December, we will be launching a dedicated Giving Tuesday fundraising campaign, where we hope to reach a set target.

As a conservation and education charity, funds raised as part of this campaign will go directly towards the care of our animals and vital wildlife conservation projects. Please, please donate what you can and help us spread the word using the #GivingTuesday hashtag on social media channels.

We have lots of activities planned to celebrate the day and raise much needed funds for the zoo. Our fundraising target is £5,000 as this is how much it costs to run the zoo for a day.

Live Q&A with a keeper

We will be running a live Q&A session with one of our keepers on the day (Tuesday 1st December).

Live animal enrichment

Enrichment is a big part of daily behavioural husbandry, as it is important for the enhancing the wellbeing of the animals in our care. It encourages animals to demonstrate natural behaviours as well as providing physical and mental stimulation and further opportunities for exercise. Watch our Facebook Live broadcasts to see some animal enrichment in action - more details to follow!

Tiger painting auction

Torbay artist, Rishi Ludgate, has kindly donated one of her stunning, original paintings of a tiger. We’ll be auctioning this on eBay from 24th November until 1st December. Place your bid here when the eBay auction goes live later this month.

win an original piece of artwork by Shaun our baby tapir

Our newest addition to the tapir family, Shaun, has been keeping himself busy during lockdown by painting! As part of our Giving Tuesday fundraising campaign we will be auctioning this on eBay from Monday 30th November until Friday 4th December. Place your bid here when the eBay auction goes live later this month.

Make a donation

We understand that not everyone may want to donate online, so we have set up many other ways that you can support us in the run up to and on actual Giving Tuesday too:

  • Online: through our dedicated Giving Tuesday campaign here.
  •  Donate via a text donation - this is super easy to do!
To donate £10, simply text NZOO to 70085. This costs £10 plus a standard rate message.
  • Purchase an Zoo Annual Pass
With an Annual Pass, you can enjoy unlimited entry to the zoo for 12 months, making it great value for money.
  • Buy an animal adoption pack
Animal adoptions make a great festive gift for someone special and you'll be supporting the zoo at the same time. Prices start from £35 for 12 months.
  • Purchase a day ticket to visit the zoo
By coming to the zoo, you will help us at this difficult time. All day tickets and an arrival time slot must be pre-booked online in advance.

We thank you so much for your support towards our Giving Tuesday campaign.
